She was willing to die, of course, but she had not planned to do it so soon, or in such a prolonged. Narrated by Kirsten Potter Wow, another new-to-me narrator and another fantastic one as well. Kristen Potter nails the characters of The Spymaster’s Lady and one can easily differentiate the numerous male characters, even spymaster Grey with his numerous disguises. Ms. Potter performs the part of the young French spy, Annique, with a beautiful French accent. This is a not a lighthearted tale.

The hero Gray is super-smart, tough, honourable and kind/5(). Fortunately, Annique Villiers, heroine of The Spymaster's Lady, is not that sort of lady: tossed into a cell and left to wait for fates worse than death, she calmly constructs a cosh out of a silk stocking and a few fistfuls of scavenged gravel, plays one of her captors for a fool, and then efficiently bashes the man unconscious.5/5(5).

I cannot say enough good about The Spymaster’s Lady. It is smart, masterful writing and I cannot wait to see what. The book could have been three times as long and no less fascinating. This is easily one of the best historical romances I’ve ever read.
